Besides, isn't the mother-of-the-groom supposed to kind of blend into the woodwork at the wedding? Last summer, when my daughter got married, the groom's mother told me that the mother-of-the-groom's motto is: "SHUT UP AND WEAR BEIGE!" Which she did, actually.
The thing is.......in my son's upcoming wedding, the mother-of-the-bride is wearing beige!! Well, I figured I'd better not stand out conspicuously in a bright color, thus this sickly green will have to suffice. The style is nice, though......have I mentioned that......?
Guys......as in men......I told you to get out of here.......do it now for sure!!!
My fantasy would be to wear a dress that showed cleavage, because I've never done such a thing. Cleavage is all over the place these days, from junior high girls to brides to news anchorwomen. Why not me, too, I ask?
Back when I was in high school, those high-necked, frilly Gunne Sax dresses were in style, and that's what we wore to proms and such. Nobody showed cleavage, not even the "wild" girls. I made my prom dress when I was a junior.....yes, I actually sewed at one time......and yes, it had a high neck. And so did my wedding dress.......it had long sleeves, too.......in July......Ugh!! I don't know WHAT on earth I was thinking back then. Sheesh.
While at Mall of America......don't tell.......but, I did try on a couple dresses that revealed cleavage. Not anything drastic, but enough to be fun and feminine. Who would care on an old 50-year-old woman, anyhow?! (Sigh) Alas, I just cannot do it, though. My mother raised me right, I guess, and I'll give the proper impression in my modest, straight-laced dress.
We must always appear to be what we should be!
Have a great day!!

The dress is beautiful. I love the detail in it and it looks easy to wear.
As for the cleavage desire, go get yourself a nice cleavage-showing blouse or sundress. Wear it one day and shock your husband. I happen to think that's what midlife should be all about: making reality of your dreams and having a little fun at the same time. (I think I am starting to sound like a lot of middle-aged men here...)
Thank you for your uncautious advice.....caution!!! I love it!!
I love that dress. It's gorgeous. It is very similar to some I have that I wore to weddings and special occasions. And mine came from Penney's as well.
Hi, Treasia!
Good! Glad to hear someone else has a dress similar to this and likes it!
Thanks for dropping by!
Jeannelle, I really like it! It's just about the perfect kind of dress I think for a wedding. Congrats on getting a bargain. Nothing is better than finding exactly what you want AND at a discount! You'll be the second most beautiful woman there. (only the bride comes first!). Have a good one Jeannelle. I'm so glad I now have a bit more time to stop by more often!
Hi, Sherry!
Glad you like the dress! I don't know about being the second most beautiful.....that will be the mom-of-the-bride!!
Yes, I was so tickled to get a bargain like this, and it meant I could spend a little more on comfortable shoes.
Stay cool!! It is roasting here!
That is a very classy dress for a mother of the groom.
I know what you mean about being modest about cleavage. I have one scoop-neck sweater that shows only a hint of a dip, that's it. (Of course, having an A cup size means I ain't got much cleavage to flaunt.) Anyway, I agonized so much over that darn sweater it was ridiculous. Of course, when I finally did start wearing it, nothing happened. Men didn't start suddenly swiveling to peer at my chest.
The other way I wish I could be more bold is to go braless. I've taken the "What size bra should I wear?" online quiz, and the answer came back, You don't need one, flatty. (Well, not really, but it did say I could go without.) The problem is that my husband is used to my being demure, and he doesn't want any other guys scoping out my nipples. So I go without at home and then put the hated bra on when we go out.
Too much information? LOL
