I'm away from the blogging chair today, so the automated blogposting service will fill in. Sorry, it, of course, cannot post replies to comments!

Just a few random photos:

Thursday morning, the Uni-chopper was caught still in dozing mode before its big day of chewing up rows of corn for silage.

Each autumn, I have a habit of throwing old pumpkins into weedy patches around the farmstead, hoping volunteer vines will grow the following spring. It works pretty well, actually........it is my kind of gardening!! Here's one that took root in the weeds near the calf pens; the poor thing has scars from being pecked by the chickens!

Yes, Laura caused quite the Internet sensation last year with her pumpkin blossoms. They looked good in her blog, but I still don't think I could eat them :)
What a gorgeous morning shot....=)
I just love pumpkins, but haven't had success growing them in the past few years.
I have never eaten a pumpkin or squash bloom either.....? Have you?
I loved this post, especially the ale of the volunteer pumpkin! Having to overthink most things, I was thinking (see?!) that there's a life lesson in this, being pecked by chickens and surviving...
Anyway, good luck with the last of the harvest!
umm, make that 'tale' of the volunteer pumpkin. Sheesh.
I love the pumpkin and the morning shot. Hope you're having a good day.
Hi, laura, caution, deserthen, nonizamboni, ruth,
Thank you for stopping by and commenting! No, I've never eaten pumpkin blossoms, or any other flowers, and have never seen recipes.
The scars on the pumpkin almost look like a type of artwork to me.....that's how the pumpkin deals with an injury! Yes.....a good life lesson that could be for all of us!
I just got home from an enjoyable day in Pella, Iowa! Such a pretty town; I'm looking at all the photos now.
I love that morning shot. Beautiful. What a great idea to let the pumpkins randomly grow. I absolutely adore the vines from not only pumpkins but all kinds of squash.
