One of the SkyWatch posts I visited last weekend had a link to Blog Blast for Peace, an idea originating with Mimi of Mimi Writes blog. Lately, I had been thinking that bloggers are in a good position to promote peace. I was glad to find out there is activity in this direction!

In case you are interested, go to Mimi's blog and read about the blogging for peace project. I need to read it again to understand exactly what is going on on November 6, 2008, the day when bloggers worldwide are going to blog about peace! I hardly think that can be a bad thing.

I was raised with the belief that world peace was something which would never take place, so we shouldn't even strive for it. In fact, I was taught that the Bible seems to encourage us to be suspicious of those who push for peace in the world. As I've gotten older, I believe that less and less.

Peace can't be forced, of course. Perhaps we should rather encourage people to be kind to one another. You know......follow the good old Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Don't you think if people truly treated each other that way there WOULD be peace in the world!!

When I was a kid and my siblings and I would get to bickering, and we would run to mom to tattle, she would respond with, "Just be nice to each other." She'd wisely turn a deaf ear to our tattling attempts. Later, as a parent, I would follow this same tack........saying often to my kids: "Just be nice to each other." Maybe it was a parental cop-out, for often I was just too tired to deal with the kids' squabblings. Do you ever wonder if maybe God gets tired and would rather not deal with the squabblings that go on amongst us earthlings!? "Love one another" might be all He really wishes to say to us at times.

"BE THE PEACE YOU WISH TO SEE" is another quote that I think really hits the mark. The only person we have the power to enact change in is ourself. Peace has to start with each one of us, singly.

Check out the Blog Blast for Peace, if you wish, and see if its something that interests you.

Your focus on Peace is an awesome one. It is better to promote peace than to try to "end war" The results appear the same, but the first is a healthier approach.
This is the second place I've read about this today. I need to think about it for myself, . . . but thanks for taking part.
I will be heading over to check out the blog.....what a great idea to blog for peace!
I couldn't agree more that Peace must start with each of us on a personal level and grow from there.....I too love the quote, Be the Peace You Wish to See. It is so very, very true......
Have a peace-filled day......=)
