Traveling to the Cake

*
My niece turned twelve today, and we were kindly invited to her house for Dairy Queen cake........Oreo Blizzard flavor! I went alone, as my snoring Husband and son could not be roused from their recliners after Sunday dinner.
*
But, its good sometimes to travel solo, for then I can stop on a whim to take pictures! Click the photo above to see the rubicund-leafed plant growing out of the crack in the boulder. (Rubicund was the Dictionary.com Word of the Day for today.) Here's more rubicund foliage!
Its only about five miles to my sister's house.........with the choice of taking the highway, or quiet gravel roads.

You can most likely guess which route I chose!

Always......always.......STOP to enjoy the view along your way!!

And, STOP for cake, too, when you have the chance!!

Very nice and so close to home, too! Always amazes me how many interesting things are so close to home!

I like the asters a lot - but all the photos are good. You are lucky your sister lives so close!

Take care.

what lovely pictures... I would take the dirt road too!
I always say I want to try one of those cakes but there is something about DQ ice cream that if I eat more than three bites I get so ill. :( so I very rarely go there. Hope your niece had a wonderful birthday!

It looks so pretty out your way, Jeanelle. And you always find the beauty to share. It's good to spend time with sisters isn't it. I, too, shared birthday cake at my sister's, on Saturday - there was leftover carrot cake from my nephew's 13th birthday when I went to press apple juice there. We did about 30 gallons, for the 2nd time! I often take the back road, onw way or the other, along the slough, but this time drove the highway, as there was work to do.

Although you cant compare the general economical situation with my country regarding the GNP (gross national product), the living standards and the things, they care for, the BlogOpen Conference materialized some new perspectives for the people there, showing them possibilities, the internet is offering to them. In many ways, not just by economical means.
