Well......digging into Sarah Palin's religious beliefs has depressed me in a big way; old fears and anxieties have been resurrected. It returns me to a world of hopeless inevitability that believes things like: "Russia is our enemy", "Peace is bad", "The Bible predicts nuclear war".......all those old beliefs I was taught as a child. I do recall thinking that there must have been alot of disappointed Christians when the Berlin Wall was brought down and the "Cold War" supposedly ended. Ah, well.........I really need to put those thoughts out of my head or serious depression will get its grips on me again.

So, this morning-----despite the clouds and rain outside----I will attempt to think of brighter, happier things, such as the wonderful outing with my daughters last Sunday!

There isn't time this morning to delve into the details of this place, but it is one of Iowa's more famous scenic spots. Iowa doesn't have mountains or an ocean, of course, but it is bordered by two famous rivers........in fact, I believe Iowa is the only state which is bordered by rivers on two sides!

Here's a scene to hopefully prompt smiles!
*Have a day full of smiles and cheerful thoughts!!

its good to know about it? where did you get that information?
I too find politics and (sometimes)religion very depressing. When I was a kid there was a lot of ranting about both and as a result I absolutely hate politics. My faith is important to me, but I also don't like the religious fanatics and try to ignore them as much as possible. I'll be happy when the election is over! I'll vote, but I fail to see how anyone can be truly happy with either candidate. I'm with you, think happy thoughts, and my advice is stay away from the politics.
Hi Jeanelle......don't let those dark, gloomy thoughts steel your happiness!! I too have been thinking along the same lines as you about the politics and religion stuff and I find my mood becoming dark at times....but I won't let it steel my every day happiness......I have been down that road.....anxiety, panic attacks, etc.....and I sure don't want to go there again over all that is happening now....my mom likes to tell me this little saying....."don't worry about tomorrow, for today has enough worries of its own." So lets not worry and just enjoy what beautiful blessings we have in our lives........=)
I love the photos in your post...=)
We have sunshine here today........sounds like our cold, rainy weather has made it to you. We are still trying to get the last of the hay put up....the guys are out now rolling the windrows with the rakes in hopes it will be warm enough today to dry them out....we need to bale, haul and stack before the next storm comes our way.....which is forecast for this weekend.......
Now I must go deal with my green tomatoes........think I will can up some dilly tomatoes....I haven't canned in years, so this should be an adventure.......
Have a wonderful day and think only happy thoughts!
Hi Jeannelle,
I'm sorry you're feeling down about the post yesterday. I know what it's like to have negative thoughts. It's a hard balance to do what we can but to let go of the outcomes.
Sending you warm thoughts and hugs.
I love your two photos. So appropriate for fall. And if you want more lovely scenery, stop by my blog. I posted Chicago Botanic Garden photos today.
Jeannelle:
Hmmm....it is a difficult balance...politics...personal life/ faith. I must say....tough times being in America these days. We Canadians are anxiously watching and waiting as your northern cousins will most certainly be affected. I agree with your concerns about fear mongering...had enough of that growing up.
Jeannelle, in times like these we HAVE to find happiness in the numerous small things around us...or we'll ALL be in the nuthouse!
Nancy,
Your advice is right on, I think. Thanks!

deserthen,
I hope you guys got done with the hay today. You're right about the rainy weather being here, now. I think I should just read your blog to know what our weather will be like in a few days!
Have fun with the tomatoes! Sounds good!
