Invention of Air

Husband and I went to Waterloo yesterday to buy a digital converter box. We were listening to the NPR show, "Science Friday", as we drove along. Steven Johnson, the author of the book, The Invention of Air, was being interviewed and then answered questions from callers.

The book sounds absolutely fascinating---it details the connections between Joseph Priestley and the U.S. Founding Fathers, including and especially, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams. I can't wait to get ahold of The Invention of Air. I love a good mix of history, science, and religion.

I'll have to check this one out. I like "connections." Speaking of which, if you've not read James Burke's "Connections" or "The Day the Universe Changed", I highly recommend both. History and science, but not much, if any, religion; all true stuff which I find fascinating.

Hi, Pat,

Thanks for mentioning the books by James Burke.....I'm going to look for them, too.

Oh, James Burke is really fascinating. He had PBS series quite a while back.

I hadn't hear of the book you're mentioning, . . . although I have heard of Priestly.
