Today is “Reminiscere”, the second Sunday of Lent. Last year, while researching for a blogpost, I learned that each Sunday in Lent has a name. Never in all my years of attending church have I heard that fact mentioned by a pastor or anyone else. I happen to enjoy historical details like that and I’m sure others do, too. Last Sunday was “Invocavit” and next Sunday will be “Oculi”.
It appears that the names are derived from the Introit designated to be read on that particular Sunday. Today’s is from Psalm 25, verse 6: Remember, O Lord, Thy tender mercies and thy loving-kindnesses, for they have ever been of old.
Loving-kindnesses……well, that’s a nice word. Hopefully, I can keep it in mind today.

Yesterday was rainy, gloomy, and drab, but one flower was brightly in bloom:
Have a pleasant “Reminiscere”.

I believe that is the most beautiful cross I have ever seen!
I didn't know that about Lenten Sundays either. Just goes to show you learn something new every day.
You would think, as a Catholic that I would know that. I must explore this further. I suppose Reminiscere is where we get the word reminisce, then? Remember. "Oculi" is intriguing. Thanks for the information. I'm very interested.

Happy Sunday! I'm sure this week will be brutal with the "spring ahead".
That top photo is so beautiful. I knew that each week of Advent has a theme; I didn't know that about Lent.
It's rainy and drab here too.
That's a beautiful cross on the tree. I hope it's where you can see it often.
I didn't know about the names of Sundays in Lent, either. Thanks for the information. I'll have to do some research, too.
