Happy Easter!

9th025

During our Easter day church services the pastor announces:

CHRIST IS RISEN!

And, the congregation responds with:

HE IS RISEN INDEED!

*

Every Easter Sunday we sing the hymn, Lift High The Cross. Our church steeple has been lifting the cross 100 feet high for 136 years!

The cross itself is about 15 feet tall, made of wood, covered in tin, and painted a gold color. It was last painted on June 13, 1998, with my husband, the trusty church trustee, wielding the paintbrush! (He measured the cross while up there, too.) He and I went to the lumber yard and chose the bright gold paint. Back then, I had only a film camera; there was room for one more picture on the roll of film that day, so the lift-truck operator raised Husband back up to the level of the cross and he snapped this perfect shot:

Klinger Cross

May you have a wonderful day, whether you are celebrating Easter in a religious way or not. Though it be a joyful day, it is also a very exhausting one…..I’ll be looking forward to resting later on.

(It was a bit of a challenge, but we finally convinced Daisy to pose in her Easter bonnet.)

We are celebrating the Resurrection here too. We even have beautiful weather--a rarity for this time of year. Loved Daisy's bonnet.

Blessings to my farmer friend...
Your pastor said the same words.
Interesting how the gospel message lives forever in our hearts no matter where we live.

I see where you got your photography prowess...from your husband! :)

Great photo of that cross atop your church.

I also blogged about the Easter message...in a slightly different take on it.

It looks like he couldn't have had a more gorgeous day to take the picture.

We are pretty impressed with Daisy. My son wants to know what other hats she owns.
