Palmarum – Palm Sunday

One of the crocuses by the milkhouse door FINALLY bloomed……just in time for Palm Sunday:

crocus

A few days ago, as Husband and I were about to leave Cedar Falls after loading up the wrecked LeSabre, a red light stopped us in our tracks at the corner of University and Main.  Near the intersection of those two streets is Nazareth Lutheran Church (ELCA), long pastored by Rev. Homer Larson of The Christian Crusaders radio show.   Husband listens to that broadcast in the barn early on Sunday mornings.  (Shhh….don’t tell….he enjoys it more than The Lutheran Hour.  Keep that under your hat.)

stop light

The photo above combines the Nazareth Lutheran Church cross and bell tower with a tree, power lines, and a traffic light.  There must be a message here, don’t you think?  What could it be?

Maybe:

STOP and contemplate God’s power!

YIELD to peace and joy; let them ring in your life!

GO forward….confident as a well-rooted tree!

What would be your interpretation of the photo?

(Oh, dear……she then fell into composing a poem.)

INTERSECTIONS

Skipping down the careless lane of youth

With letters in hand, no worry in sight

Sunshine of morning dapples the leaves,

Lending to life a joy so bright

The lane’s destiny unforeseen

Collision of will, intersection of fate

Chance meeting of eyes, the knowing of hearts

Grips the minds with knowledge too late

Inward wounds, blessedly hidden they be

Prod and propel as life moves ahead

Grace and faith inhabit intersections

As grown-up purpose becomes the road to tread

A BLESSED PALM SUNDAY TO YOU!

An inspiring trio...photos, prose and poetry...good job.

What runs through those wires may be holding you back from your true focus on the Lord and your salvation. (I'm using the power lines as a metaphor for technology as a whole.)
Yield and give up yourself to God. Grow where you are planted.

Excellent image, Jeannelle!

Kat

I've tagged you for a little meme. Come on over and see.

Hi, Gail,

Thanks for the kind words!

Hi, Poetikat,

Wow....you offer an interesting take on the wires! I had wished to cut them out of the scene, but you prove they add dimension.

Thanks....I'll visit soon!

I liked your STOP...YIELD...GO use of the traffic signal juxtaposed with the church.

The photo brought to my mind an old hymn, "Where Cross the Crowded Ways of Life":

"Where cross the crowded ways of life,
Where sound the cries of race and clan,
Above the noise of selfish strife,
We hear your voice, O Son of Man."

Rhymsie,

Good connections going on in your mind, there, to have that very appropriate hymn verse pop up. Thanks for mentioning!

And, you're a poet, too! Well done.
