My mom opening her gifts……
StepDad’s scrumptious carrot cake……
A painting of Long’s Peak and Bear Lake in Colorado hanging on the wall next to the dining room table……
(This next photo from yesterday’s post was taken from the same Bear Lake vantage point as depicted in the painting…..Long’s Peak is in the background.)
This knobby yellow glass vase sitting on Mom and StepDad’s kitchen counter: When I was a kid, this fascinating vase occupied various spots in our house…..sometimes on the TV, or on the piano, or on a window sill. The sight of it tugs my thoughts backwards in time……
Mom and StepDad have travelled to Europe several times. On one of those trips they ordered this hand-carved cuckoo clock from The Black Forest in Germany:
While in Russia, they acquired this set of "Matryoshka" nesting dolls. The word Matryoshka comes from the Latin word mater which means "mother". (Thank you to reader rhymeswithplague for that link!)
Over their sofa hangs this painting…….the scene possibly from Switzerland:
On the way home we stopped to see my niece’s pride and joy……five grandkitties of our very own Miss Kitty (mother of the two kittens we currently have). They were a fitting sight to be seen on Mother’s Day, too. Their mother’s name is Sanders.
Have a great day!

Hi, rhymsie,
Thank you for that link! I'm going to add it to the post. I didn't even think of the connection between nesting dolls and motherhood.
Oh! Oh! Oh! I'm going to have to stop visiting if you keep showing photos of such cute kitties! I want one!!! They're so darn adorable!~
Thanks for sharing your Mother's Day with us. The knobby glass vase is such a quirky little beauty. Love the addition of tulips. :)
Happy Monday!
Gorgeous kitties and an interesting look about your mother's house.

Nice Mother's Day photos, Miss J. A slice of your dad's cake would hit the spot about now. Your folks have collected some really pretty things during their travels.
Your photo of the babies makes me want a kitten! My three cats are nine, six and five years of age, and while not decrepit, they are not cute like kittens can be.
Hi, Flea,
There are presently 14 little kitties in three litters at my niece's house....not in the house, though. If you lived closer, I'm sure you could have as many as you want!
