Yesterday's weather was like a sauna here in Iowa, prompting me to search for photos that had the feeling of "COOL". I love the above scene…..though am not sure why. It was taken on March 26, 2008, when I happened to be out driving around during a sudden spring snow shower. At one point there was a loud ruckus in the woods……it was this double-armed tree trimmer moving down the railroad tracks:

I spent several hours on the lawn tractor yesterday afternoon in an effort to get all the grass cut before more rains come. The day's mugginess hinted that storms could develop in the evening......I typed this at 9:30 p.m. last night and all was quiet at that point, though still uncomfortably humid, the type of weather in which you don't feel refreshed even after taking a shower. It doesn't help that we don't have air-conditioning in our house, either. I'm worn out from hours in the sun and just gulped down some ibuprofen and am going to hit the hay. Good night......even though you'll be reading this in the morning. My blogging marathon will soon be finished!

What a nice photo railroad tracks in the snow....lovely! We have been getting so much rain here in SD. Its hard to find time to get the lawn mowed in between rains!
i do believe we would die without a/c i dont know how we lived without it when i was growing up...
Hi, aspen,
Oh, that is frustrating, when rains come so often that you can't get the lawn mowed. We are getting rain again this morning, making me very thankful that I was able to get the entire lawn done yesterday.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope your weather improves soon.

Hi, Laura,
Your weather in Georgia is probably like a sauna all summer long, I'm guessing. What I forgot to say in the post is that this muggy weather is great for the corn, and that's what counts right now!
Take care.....enjoy Bradley!
Our Georgia weather has already been in the 90's, and one day recently had a heat index over 100 degrees. Ah, the sunny south.
I love the snow, by the way. And I have never heard of a double-armed tree trimmer before, let alone one moving down the railroad tracks.
It is odd to read: "I typed this at 9:30 p.m. last night." Did you mean "I typed that at 9:30 p.m. last night."?
Not criticizing, just sayin'....
That tree trimmer looks like something right out of Hollywood. Thanks for the cool pix. They felt great this muggy morning.
Brrrr....I love the bottom one best!
Hi, rhymsie,
Haha....last night I mulled over how to phrase that sentence! And, I made the wrong choice, probably. The thought I was typing seemed to be a "this" at the moment I was typing it, so that's why I chose to use "this".
Good luck staying cool!

Hi, Caution,
You must be experiencing muggy weather, too....in Michigan? Or, maybe you are in KY, now? Many years ago I visited KY in August and it was the absolute worst heat and humidity I had ever been in, though Iowa's recent summers have been close rivals. Stay comfortable somehow.

Hi, threecollie,
I tried to look up your area on the NY map. Do you get hot, muggy weather there, too? On our farm, the barn is actually the most comfortable place because of all the huge fans running.
Hi Jeannelle,
I am actually enjoying this hot muggy weather these last two days. But, I do have my A/C that I started to use yesterday and today. I don't like snow and winter, but the picture of the tree trimming machine is something I never saw before. Aw, I live a very sheltered life...
No air conditioning?!
Barbaric!
Hi, Gramma Ann,
Glad to hear someone likes this weather. Oh, I wouldn't consider you sheltered just 'cuz you never saw that particular machine before.

Hi, Maybelline,
Yes, it could be that we ARE barbarians. Thanks for visiting.
I LOVE the top photo. It has a tinny, old-time look to it, straight out of the 1800's. Too cool.
And the double-armed tree trimmer? That's got to sound pretty scary during a snowstorm. It's usually so quiet during snow -- sounds are amplified, so I can just imagine how that must have sounded.
And NO AIR??!! Girlfriend, I wouldn't be able to get ready to go anywhere if I didn't have some refuge from the heat! I had central air installed in Ohio about 5 or 6 years ago... here in KS, hubby has a room air condition in the living room. It is newer and the highest cold thingamajig so it does a fairly good job of keeping our small house cool. But it's not the same as central air! I miss my central air! We also installed a ceiling fan in the living room and kitchen, and a huge window fan on our back porch, which can exhaust or intake. Man, it works really well at cooling the house down, makes it downright cold at night!
Ok, I've rattled on long enough. I'm done. Hope you have a good weekend... stay cool! :)
Hi, Oz Girl,
Enjoyed your "rattling". The big window fan sounds like a great idea. We have gigantic fans in the barn and it stays very comfortable in there. Cow comfort is VERY important.....more so than people comfort sometimes.
The photo is really very lovely! It has a peaceful winter quality to it.
We have yet to really see any major warm weather here...in the low 80's for a few days, but dropped back to the 70's. It has been raining almost every day for over three weeks now! We seem to get hit by one thunderstorm after another! Hay is still on the ground!
