Sunday Jaunt

Sunday afternoon I took a drive down to the river.  That would be the Wapsipinicon, or simply, “the Wapsie”, as we call it.  Its about five miles away from our farm.  Along the way, I braked for these mauve-colored sumac…

The road near the river was quiet and peaceful, dappled with autumn sunshine…

These two photos are SOOC (straight out of camera).  The sumac photo received a slight brightening.  I like the graphics and shadows of this old bridge…

While standing on the bridge, I heard hootings---one in the woods on the east side of the river and one answering on the west.  Owls, perhaps, if owls hoot in the daytime.  Let me know if you know whether they do or not.  Its been many years since I’ve heard an owl hoot.  I should visit the river area more often!
Here’s a video from the bridge.  Turn your computer’s volume way up to hear the hootings.

Thanks for sharing! So wonderful. I love seeing the lush landscape and your posts about farming take me back to my grandparents' farms.

Well it certainly is hooting isn't it? Awesome! Love the sumac this time of year also.
