I’ve been keeping an eye on a roadside a couple miles from here where many different wildflowers grow. Yesterday I detoured over there while on an errand to our local small town. I found this golden yellow flower in bloom which I think is a type of St. John’s Wort:

For wildflower identification I use two books, a Peterson Field Guide and a Nature Conservancy Field Guide. I enjoy finding unfamiliar flowers so I can play detective!

I started a wildflower ID project in the spring. It fun to know the names of all those roadside glories, yes?!
Beautiful flowers and great photos!
