Traveling Civil War Exhibit

A Civil War exhibit has been touring around Iowa the past two summers.  It is called The Fiery Trial: Iowa and the Civil War.  Today and tomorrow it is in a nearby town, so I went to take a look.

July 13 (1) Inside the trailer, history is displayed in a modern way:

July 13 (8) July 13 (5) July 13 (6) There is even a touch-screen where you can search for information about soldiers from Iowa.  I have ancestors who fought in the Civil War, but they were from other states. 

July 13 (9) If you live in Iowa and this exhibit travels to your town, go take a look and learn some history!

In Cedar Rapids there was a Civil War re-enactment at Ushers Ferry over the weekend. I didn't go but heard it was fun. This week a B-29 and P-51 are scheduled to be here for a few days before going to the annual airshow in Oshkosh. Lots to see and do this year.
