This morning the Schwan's truck stopped here. As we chatted, the driver said, "I know its cold out when it feels warmer inside the truck's freezer than outdoors!!!"
I didn't envy him today.

So how cold is that??? hmmm???
Oh and on your post below (somewhere)--are their fire hazards that go with grain silo thingies?
nannykim,
Thanks for visiting! Hope you're feeling better!
Fire hazards....not really, although fires can happen anywhere. Mostly with silos, the hazard is poisonous gases that build up in the days after silo-filling. Farmers must be sure to blow fresh air up there for ventilation if they have to work up inside the silo at that time.
Schwan's! I love that truck and my mom and mother-in-law used to buy so much from him when I was younger. I think my mom still does. I know there is a Schwans truck around town but he doesn't come out where I live. Probably a good thing. I would just have to order the maple nut icre cream and push ups. Of course and then eat them.
Yes, Schwan's!! When I was a child in the 60s, the ONLY extravagence we had on the farm was a regular visit from the much anticipated Schwan's truck!! (Well, okay, we had a few other nice things but you get the idea...!) I remember we would get fudge bars which seemed to be a really popular item. Of course, the large tin cans of ice cream were the best!! I think those tin ice cream cans are collectible items now!
I love the picture you posted yesterday - beautiful!
Take care and know I visit your blog every day but don't always post a response - but I certainly enjoy your pictures and narrative.
Welcome, Vonda & Hi, Russell!
Thank you both for stopping by to comment on the Schwan's post. That one struck a nerve....yes, alas, I long ago gave into the temptation of allowing the Schwan's truck to stop here every two weeks. Actually, its handy....I live many miles from supermarkets, and the Schwan's truck saves me time and fuel. I buy their frozen vegetables....(duh, all their stuff is frozen!)....and pizzas, and, of course, their classic, delicious ice cream!
