Here's something you need to know.......Jeannelle's been watching bits and pieces of this here DVD, "Charade". I'm afraid she might be planning to put another movie quiz on this blog soon (what a dumb idea, in my feline opinion, by the way).Take a peek inside this little DVD-playing contraption to see the proof:
Jeannelle's daughter left this little DVD player at home when she went to college, and Jeannelle seems to think that gives her the right to appropriate the machine for her own use. There's nothing I can do, except sit here in my chair by the kitchen counter and helplessly watch her cooking and baking under the influence of movie watching. I'm worried that one day she'll get so distracted by an engrossing movie scene that she'll toss peas in the brownie batter and chocolate chips in the casserole. Its enough to give a cat gray whiskers.........I fear I may have some already!
Anyway, I wanted you to know that to pass muster on this Charade quiz, you should probably be able to list all of Cary Grant's aliases, plus his true name (in the movie), of course. I doubt Jeannelle would think to ask for his true name in real life. Heeheehee.......this is fun......a chance for me to get back at my mistress for the times she locks me in the basement and shoves me outdoors when I don't wish to go.
Oops......she's returning from her walk......talking to herself, as usual.......what a weirdo!! Gotta make like a cat now, bounding about, purring, and all that........don't forget what I told you!

Oh, thanks Tuxedo! I haven't yet taught my dog to type, so I had better get on the bandwagon. He'll be upset to hear that a cat is besting him at something.

Hobbes was bored by Tux's story, Calvin was theoretically intrigued with his comments but not totally convinced. Kate filed her nails and snickered a good deal. Spencer simply thought it waste of time to talk about dumb humans at all. So they told me to tell you.!
What are you talking about?? Tux? Why is he mentioned? I did see him dash out of the computer room when I returned from my walk. What has he been up to.....that naughty cat!
This is Domino, Russell's cat... Tux, Tux, Tux.... you silly cat!! You mistress is misleading you! One thing you must always know about humans is that they are so unpredictible - so unlike us cats. I mean, think about how long it took you to train that human and she still messes up! The training never stops!!
Be careful. You human may be trying to trick you by letting you THINK she is doing something when really she is doing something else....
As a cat you should know this - always expect the unexpected. But keep watching and always go into your sleep act - that fools them every time. For me, I am going to get off this silly thing, have some milk and take a long nap in the barn.... Now that's what I call living....
I am telling!

Have any of you ever read "The Silent Miaow--A Manual for Kittens, Strays, and Homeless Cats," translated from the Feline by Paul Gallico?
I highly recommend it to any of you who think you own the animals who posted here!

It is an intriguing book. It's old, may be out of print, but should be available through a library. It's pretty funny. I could believe it was written by a cat...mine seems to agtree with large parts of it. :-)

The book sounds fun.....cats ARE fun; I have really found that out the last year or so. They are kind of therapeutic, too, in their own way. And we can learn from them.....about being independent and just being ourselves at all times.
And the author's name, Paul Gallico, sounds familiar.....what else did he write....or, er, "translate" from other languages!
He was a writer from the mid 1900s. Wrote the Snow Goose and the Poseidon Adventure (yes, of movie fame). Also wrote the book Disney based its 3 Lives of Thomasina cat movie on. The Silent Miaow seems to be a departure from his norm. (I'm not really that knowledgeable--I just looked him up!) I used to work at a library and found this book just as the neighborhood cat adopted us. It was VERY appropos at the time! There's a chapter about "two-timing" (letting more than one set of humans believe you "belong" to them) that could have been written by that very cat! :-)

Oh, yes, the Poseidon Adventure.....I remember that movie. I have not read that book, but must have heard the author's name somewhere. Those overblown disaster films were the rage back when I was in high school......"The Towering Inferno" was another one.
You have me worried now, though.....hoping none of my cat friends are "two-timing" me!
