Toad, Jeremiah & Friends

Do you recall when I blogged about the coincidence of the wild turkey mother and baby showing up the morning after our football team played the team from TURKEY Valley? I wondered what would appear this past Saturday morning following our second game, in which we played the "J-Hawks"!
**
Well.......guess what........a big, ol' toad greeted me in the barn the next morning! Perhaps, his name is "Jay"! Aren't toads just the most fascinatingly ugly creatures!! Look at that thing behind its eye........is that an ear?
Years ago, in the church I grew up in, I sang in a quartet with a guy we called "Toad". Everyone called him that.......even his family. Currently, my son has a good friend who is known as "Toad", to everyone, too.

Last Friday, after mentioning the Three Dog Night song, "Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog", in my blogpost, I walked to a bridge about one-half mile away in hopes of seeing frogs........and was treated to the sight of a quartet of them lounging contentedly in the mud (only two are in this photo)!

By golly.........Jeremiah was there!!

And his friend, Hezekiah:
And.........Nehemiah:
Along with, Zechariah-Malachi nestled further down in the oozy mud........

They informed me that their stage names are Jerry, Hezzy, KneeHi, and Zack-Eye........and "DON'T YOU DARE FORGET IT", they croaked adamantly!

(P.S. - On Saturday morning, after writing this post, I went out for a walk and was able to----for the first time in my life----photograph a HAWK!! Perhaps, HIS name is "Jay-Hawk"!! I'll post his photo later today.)

Jeremiah was a bullfrog. I remember that song.

Great photos.

The other day, I saw ten hawks soaring over our subdivision in roughly the same area. They were high up, so I didn't even try to get a photo. I'm looking forward to seeing your hawk picture.

Hi, Ruth!

That's really something.....seeing that many hawks together! I've never seen more than two at one time.

Great post Jeannelle. You know...interestingly I had a hawk circling my yard this weekend...coming into the edge of town I guess for those easy pickins from disturbed land in the new subdivisions. Although it brings nature closer...the relationship between man and nature is not a good one when it happens this way.

I saw a hawk sitting atop a telephone pole just after I turned off the blacktop yesterday on the way home from church. I smiled as I always do. You often see them in winter in the trees along the highways. They love to watch cars its seems. Lovely pics Jeannelle, as usual.

I noticed this HUGE bird, don't know what it was, coming home yesterday. I wished I lived in the country to see more. Awesome post!

I love frogs...I love hearing them in the distant ponds...it's kind of a lonely sound..but very peaceful.
