To clarify some of my thoughts in the previous post that may appear offensive to some readers.........here is my comment to someone who was offended and felt that I was saying that divorced people, etc., are socially undesirable:
****
"Thank you for your comment. The truth is I do not consider anyone in that listing as socially undesirable.....divorced people, pregnant teenagers, Black Liberation theology adherents, End-Times theology adherents, Mr. Ayers, Rev. Wright, Rev. Muthee, or anyone involved in Troopergate. No....that's not what I meant, and am sorry it appeared that way to you. What I'm longing for are candidates with nothing in their background that can be dragged out and used in mud-slinging. Some people do sling the divorce issue as mud......less often than the other issues so you are right, I probably should not have included it in the list. I hope you can accept my apology."
****
P.S. - To everyone: I'm acquainted with plenty of divorced people, plus my husband and I both have close relatives who are divorced. I certainly do not consider any of these people socially undesirable. Thanks.

Chin up, Jeannelle. I understood what you meant.
its your blog you can say anything you want to on it and for whats its worth I totally understood what you were saying in the first place :)
The mud slinging is sickening ... its a total turn off to listening to ANY of the cantidates like there is not enough wrong in this world as it is without adding garbage that is NOT going to make any difference in the long run... sigh.
Please don't stop your political/religious posts!! I love them :P
I've been trying to figure out what my skeletons would be if I ran for office. Kind of interesting enough to keep me from ever running!
Now lastly, you were kidding about someone being offended by the divorce comment, right?
You can't please everyone, especially in bloggy world.
I read that post and knew exactly what you meant, Jeannelle. I could never run for office (nor would I want to) because of all my skeletons in the closet. I think I have 3. It's enough.
Jeannelle,
I understood exactly what you meant. I am so sick of all the mud slinging and you are right. I am ashamed our our election and the nasty tactics. Sickening.
I read the post Jeannelle, and I certainly understood what you meant. As to being chastised for writing about politics I am very saddened that you would worry about what anyone thinks about this. this is your blog and you have every right to speak about whatever subjests you choose. being authentic is being honest and you have always been both.
Don't let someone or some one's deter you from being you.
Your point was extremely relevant and I certainly agree. But the fact is that most humans have a skeleton or two in their closet. It used to be that those were respected unless they spoke directly towards one's ability to govern responsibly. Now they are used to embarrass and to cast questions on the person only. They are very wrong, yet we seem not to be able to convince our candidates to stop.
