Get Informed

*
If you don't read and watch anything else today...........
Listen people.......I grew up hearing just exactly what the video is talking about. People need to GET INFORMED about this!
*

I'm not trying to promote or bash either presidential ticket.......I simply want people to become informed about End Times Theology. IT IS OUT THERE........and, do you wish to have it dictating the actions of our government?
*
*
Addendum: To any Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod people who happen to read this post.........I've been a member of your church for 30 years, and I know for a fact that you probably know next to nothing about End-Time beliefs. Many LCMS members will knee-jerk vote for an anti-abortion candidate, however........even though the chances of that candidate actually changing any abortion laws are nil. Consider studying the End-Times beliefs which permeate other denominations.........so you can make a fully informed voting decision.

Yes, I've read this article and seen the video. I am a God fearing woman but believe strongly of a firm separation of church and state..
It's going to be a rocky, rocky road until November 4th.

There are millions of American Catholics and Baptists and Presbyterians and, yes, Pentecostals, who believe many of the same things as Sarah Palin.

Methodists and Lutherans and Episcopalians, not so much.

It's called eschatology, the doctrine of last things.

You could ask Billy Graham, for example, whether he believes Biblical prophecy about Israel, Russia, the AntiChrist and Armageddon, and whether the world as we know it will last much longer (those are the questions posed at the end of the 10-minute video). You might be surprised at his answer. Yet he is a respected figure. He doesn't major in that.

Lots of people believe lots of things. Maybe they're cuckoo. Maybe they're not. If you asked Tom Cruise about Scientology, his answer might cause your eyes may roll back in your head.

In this country, you can believe anything you want, even that bread and wine actually turn into flesh and blood if somebody consecrates them. Or you can believe nothing at all and ridicule and mock those who do believe, which is what Bill Maher is doing with his new movie Religulous.

Here's the thing to remember: there is no religious test for political office in the United States of America.

Rhymsie,

From what I've been reading, the church Sarah Palin is closely affiliated with is on the far-out side of these beliefs. That bothers me. Her pastor talking about Alaska and Wisconsin and one other state being refuges during the Tribulation.....he said this was prophesied.....that bothers me alot.

I appreciate what you're trying to point out, but there's many, many people in today's world who have no knowledge of these End Times beliefs.......and I think THEY need to be brought up to speed.

Thanks, Jeannelle. The video wasn't available when I went there but I'm very familiar with that set of beliefs. I appreciate your effort to bring this to people's attention.

No, there is no religious test for U.S. president, except separation of church and state. And from several of Palin's statements, I have strong doubts that she accepts that concept.

Who knows what is right? I sure don't. This same type of religious bigotry is what ended Romney's run for office. What a shame. We certainly could use someone like him guiding the country now.

deb,

Yes, lots of prayer is needed.

******

Laura,

Good.....the card got to you! Thanks for stopping in.

Maybelline,

I don't know who or what is right, either, in this election. But, I do know that most everything talked about in that video is the same stuff that I used to hear in Bible Studies 30 years ago. I had hoped that nobody was into that stuff anymore.....Magog being Russia----I used to hear that all the time. And, how we need to always stand up for Israel in order for things to go well for our country. What the pastor in the video said about Alaska and Wisconsin being "refuge" states.....now that is new information.....and he said it had been prophesied!! Where, I wonder? In the Bible, or by some new "prophet". That's one thing I don't care for about these Pentecostal types.....they think they can prophesy and tell us God's will. Just wait.....if someone like that gets in the White House someday.....it will not be funny.

Hi, and the other side has
Rev. Wright & Father Flager..!!!!

Heaven Help us All....

Jeannelle said...

anonymous,

Yes, there is that to consider. But, from what I've read of Rev. Wright.....his goal is better lives for black people. The End-Timers want the world to end......that's more of a worry, in my opinion.

What can you do? I suppose continue on by doing good wherever you can and not get wrapped up in paranoia. Seems like a good time to go out and take pictures similar to the fall scenes in the post following this one.

Thanks for making us think.

from my LCMS view...only God in his

Great wisdom knows the day & hour &

minute of the end of time...Don't

think all the doings of the

Pentocostal types will change that.

Would rather have people who

love their country & God in office.

Jeannelle said...

anonymous LCMS,

What you may not realize is that some far-out End Timers believe that it is up to Christians to do things to hasten the End Times.......nuclear war, for instance.

I fully agree with you, that only God knows the day and the hour.

Some of these End-Timers are coming up with new prophecies....such as, that Alaska is to be prepared as a place of refuge during the Tribulation. Um.....they are serious about this. They believe people can be filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesy God's will. Do you as an LCMS member believe that? I doubt it. The LCMS belief is that the Holy Spirit works only through the already revealed Word of God.

I grew up with this stuff. I would never want people with this mindset to be leading our country.

In my opinion......you need to wake up.

Doesn't matter who gets elected...

their minds turn to mush when the

power of the office and $$$$$$

start to influence their judgement.

Hard to believe they are the

best our nation has to offer...???

Amen

Jeannelle said...

Ah, good for you, anonymous.....resort to a generalization.

But, I do echo your final sentence......and the AMEN!!

Hunker down and PRAY & TRUST seems to be the best plan.

After re-reading my own comment...

"The best our nation has to offer?"

Who man or woman would want to

put their families though what

the media does to those who

choose to run for office....

Not many......don't think I'd

want that for my family or anyone

that I know.....again LCMS Amens

Jeannelle said...

anonymous,

So.....you believe candidates' backgrounds should not be revealed to voters? That we should vote blindly?

No, its not what the media does. Its the fact that voters do need to be informed about who they are voting for.

Don't blame things on the media. If you don't like living in a country that allows freedom of the press.....then go live somewhere else.

Thank you for this post...I did go over to read the article and watch the video.....SCARY!!!

I think we have every right as American voters to know what the religious beliefs of the canidates are......Palin's are just flat out SCARY!!!! I'm a registered republican and from the get go.....I have not liked Palin....there is "something" about her that makes "warning" bells go off for me.......does that make sense?? I'm not happy with either canidate at this point....

Thank you agan for sharing and I love your insights.........

Jeannelle said...

deserthen,

Yes, it does make sense to me, because I have a similar feeling about her.

Thank you for your encouraging thoughts today. I need to quit reading my own blog and go read some others......like yours! I love seeing the lovely scenery from other parts of the country!
