Here's colored glass plates sitting atop the bowl full of lights:
It looks kind of dorky in this photo, with the cord hanging off and all, but from a distance in a dark room, the lighted bowl casts a nice glow, adding ambiance.......which this old farmhouse can certainly use.

It looks cute. I saw a TV show in which they used the twinkle lights to make the center piece. But, I don't remember how they did it without the cord showing. I should have payed closer attention.
One way they used the twinkle lights I remember was under a gauze tablecloth or something and they just showed through enough to make it cute. If I would try it, it would look like a child did it.

Well, I guess I'd better comment cause maybe you showed this just for me! It does look very pretty - I might even try it, the decorations are now in a place easier to get at. I see you tried it with two different plates. Dairymary
