Morphing Mushroom

14th005

I just returned home from church and am working on fixing food to take to a family reunion. I left for church at around 8:15 a.m. and noticed this unusual mushroom on display along our driveway. Its height was approximately 12 inches.

14th003 I attended our sister parish church because I was singing in their 100th anniversary choir. My vehicle waited for me in the shade of this towering Catalpa tree.

Yup……here’s the proof of a 100th anniversary celebration taking place today. The church was packed and a Lutheran radio preacher was on hand to deliver the sermon. Tents were set up for a big dinner after the service, but I didn’t stay for that.

14th012 The next photo shows how the sky looked on the way home. The top of the sky-dome appeared lined with the seemingly stationary marshmallowy-textured clouds and farther below were the darker tufts of fluffy clouds moving along in their own separate plane above the earth. The 3-D effect was interesting to watch.

I pulled into the driveway at around 10:30 a.m. and here is how the mushroom looked!

14th015 Wow…..what changes are wrought in just two hours during the lifespan of a mushroom!

I hope you’re having a pleasant Sunday!

How interesting that two hours could make that much difference! The clouds are spectacular...I always enjoy watching them float by with all the shapes and designs.

Jeannelle you pics are always so tranquil and pleasing. Lovely little church too. We had our church picnic today, so happily it was warm, no rain, and at least a bit of sun now and then. Glad you had such a lovely morning. You seem a busy person!lol..

Farm Wife,

Thanks for the picture of the bridge. I have never seen one like it. Wouldyou mind if I sent it to the Lincoln Highway folks in PA to see if they know about it?

Hi, Blue Ridge Gal,

I had never seen a mushroom quite like this one before.

Hi, Alicia,

The mushroom changes were amazing to me. The clouds, too....just a lovely morning.

Hi, Sherry,

What a lovely day for a church picnic! Everyone was commenting on the good weather at church today....it could have been pouring down rain. I think I sounded busier than I really was.

Hi, Reamus,

The photo came from the Tama, Iowa websiteso I'm sure its for public use.

I'm wondering where you are by now. Travel safe.

I am so glad the picnic did not get rained out. The cloud shot is wonderful. We had a cloudburst here during church that shook the building with thunder and threatened to douse the lights. I almost walked to church since DH had obligations elsewhere today. So glad I did not. My hair would have looked like the mushrooms!

Poor mushie! That's pretty tall - 12 inches.

That shot of the sky is spectacular - a bit scary though.

Hi, Leenie,

Haha....clever and fitting to compare the mushroom with hairdo's. Oh, I never like it when a thunderstorm occurs while we are in church...the old building rattles frightfully.

Hi, Kat,

Yeah, the mushroom was unusually tall....weird to see.
