Turkey River in the Mist

16th067

Here’s a few more shots from my journey to pick up parts on Tuesday afternoon. These photos were taken from a bridge over the Turkey River on County Road B40, east of Eldorado.

There was time to catch only one bird-free photo……then a flock of swallows emerged from underneath the bridge, protesting my intrusion into their territory.

Every time I see mist on water, I remember very early mornings going out fishing with my dad in an old wooden rowboat over perfectly still water. The mist would rise up off the water in columns that marched along the surface and jumping over the little whirlpools left by the oars. I always thought of them as the mythical water sprites appearing transiently, then disappearing with the rising sun. Someday, I'm going to gather the energy to go out before sunrise and see them again.

Hi, Old Gray Egg,

What wonderful memories you have and your descriptions are excellent! I wish I could say it was early morning when these photos were taken, but it was mid-afternoon on a very rainy day.
