……..Taken about an hour ago when I walked down to the mailbox to pick up today’s snail-mail. Seems like Bee would have to be out of her mind to hang around on a prickly old thistle. Instinct and nature prompt the darnedest behavior.

Lovely capture! The Bee looks very involved in its work. Thistle is such a nasty thing, but even a nasty weed can provide a moment of beauty! Happy day to you. =)
Your pictures are just gorgeous.I really enjoy them. Hope you didn't get plastered with rain. We got 6 inches but managed to keep pumping and slowly it's starting to dry up some.
They are so focused on their work! I would take a lesson from them but then I would be so bored. Very nice photo.
It is amazing what nature can convince us to do :)
Your photography is simply beautiful. Any chance you'll put a calendar together for 2010?
Lovely photo. I think the flowers of the thistle are lovely. Nothing ever sets still long enough for me to get a picture. Or if they do, it is blurry or if butterfly the wings are closed. I gave up on taking pictures of bugs and butterflies.
Beautiful capture of a good insect and a pesky plant.
The flowers are beautiful but then there are seeds! We have a few places with thistle and try to hand cut them every year, burn the plant and salt the root. There are always a few we miss.
The best method I have found is walking with a empty feed sack and a pair of scissors. Put the sack under the flower and snip, it falls right into the sack with out touching those horrible stickers.
What an incredible photo this is. I'm so impressed.
Thistles may be prickly, invasive weeds, but I think they are beautiful. Super good photo, Miss J>!
