Happy Halloween!
Used to carve jack-o-lanterns and go trick-or-treating. Back when my four kids were younger (and way back when I was younger, too). Now I plug in an electric-lighted plastic jack-o-lantern and mourn the absence of that big pile of candy the kids used to bring home. It was only fair that they share their loot with the mom/chauffeur who drove them into town to go trick-or-treating in the first place!

whoa, I thought that WAS a real pumpkin! it looks amazingly real. and no bother with all those slimy, stringy seeds either. I have no childhood memories of going trick or treating. I grew up on a dairy farm and my father was always milking the cows during those hours, and my mom didn't drive. but I do have some choice photos of me sitting on the kitchen table with my sister, holding a lit candle. I'm all bright-eyed and bushy tailed and my sis looks bored and half asleep. oh the treasures. thanks for stirring the memories I do have! happy week to you Jeanelle.
...and probably cost $12.99 at Wal-green's! The real thing was a lot less expensive, especially if it was removed stealthily, at night, from a neighboring farmer's field.
Not that I ever did that.
Happy Halloween Iowa neighbor. Enjoyed looking thru you blog and hanks for stopping by mine. I just catching up on post and comments as we returned last week from visiting the grandkids in Arizona.
My kids are older now, so I miss all of this too, but we still have a lot of trick-or-treaters each year. Love your jack-o-lantern!
