Monday

It was a busy weekend.  At some point, I took a little time to search for some photo-worthy flowers in our perennial flower bed.  Many of them are quite bedraggled-looking due to the heat, wind and bugs.  I did manage to find this Black-Eyed Susan that looked good enough for a photo:

July 14 (4)And, this Coneflower:

July 14 (3) The heavy summer blanket of heat and humidity has settled over Iowa making the outdoors feel like a sauna.   I need to get busy and do some lawnmowing this morning before the midday heat sets in.  Much of the lawn is brown, but there are some green areas that are still growing, plus rogue weeds that shoot up here and there despite the shortage of rain.

The flowers are beautiful. I especially enjoy that coneflower. I admit that I have quit with the lawn mowing. I have a couple goats helping with the taller weeds, but otherwise I quit.
