Chopping Corn

Here’s some scenes from today’s chopping of the corn for silage…

Aug 14 (14)

At times, there was almost a traffic jam in the field:

Aug 14 (13) The cornstalks get cut, chopped up, and blown into the chopper wagon for transport to the silo.  Cows consider corn silage a gourmet food!

These cats didn’t help do any of the work, but they wanted to be on the blog anyway:

Farm wife,

How many cats do you have around the farm, or are you ever sure?

Great shots...thanks!

We sure could use some of that silage. No hay to be found.

What a beautiful rat patrol you have. Needed on a farm especially one that has corn.

No, Reamus, I'm never sure!

Great shots! I always drive by scenes like this now that I'm in Iowa, but I've never had the chance to see the work up close.

Nice to see some cute rodent "exterminators"! I'll have to show my daughter the kitties' photo when she gets home from school.

Thanks for explaining farming as the season goes along. The herd of cats photo is quite remarkable.

Our neighbors grow corn for silage. Love watching the process!

Love the bushy tails on the kitties! Nice group of mouse cathers!

I'm glad your corn crop was not too effected by this summer's drought! The kitty shot was fun--they look happy with their tails int he air! :)

So glad you have a crop to chop! Ours is not that great this year...and very late due to wet conditions early on. We won't be chopping for awhile.
