Other Tours at the House on the Rock

As if a house built on a rock isn’t enough, there’s much, much more to see at The House on the Rock in Wisconsin.  We bought tickets for all three tours---after leaving the house, we strolled along the evening-lighted Streets of Yesterday, peering into homes and shops along the way:

Further on, we found ourselves on a street that seemed European:

The Galleries area had collections of everything under the sun, including these cash registers:

There were toy collections, too.  I took a photo of this truck because it came from Dyersville, Iowa, a place I’ve blogged about recently (The Ertl farm toy company used to be there.):

I think I remember seeing these along roads when I was a kid---Burma Shave signs:

There were walls full of these mechanical advertisements for a diamond company.  We pushed a button and watched them move:

There was all sorts of memorabilia to see:

There was a Circus Room:

Here’s one of the multitude of doll houses in the Doll House Room:

We looked up and saw these model airplanes in the Spirit of Aviation area:

This Titanic poster was in the Heritage of the Sea area:7-29-12 (60)

These lights were in the entrance to the Music of Yesterday area.  There were many mechanical music machines there, some filling whole rooms!  They were really amazing to see and listen to!

I don’t remember what area this chandelier was in:

There also was the Organ Room, containing great big pipe organs, and there was the Doll Carousel.  This other very large Carousel  was near the end of the tours:

I enjoyed it all, but did begin to wonder if we’d ever get out of there!  If you go to The House on the Rock and plan to tour everything, be sure to set aside three hours or more.  Click here for ticket rates and other info.

(See previous blogposts for photos of the house itself.  Underneath the comments section of this page click on the words Older Post to go to the blogpost before this one and keep doing that to see each preceding blogpost.)
