A Blog By Cats

I know.........I know.........stay away from blogging your political opinions, Jeannelle!! But, just now I had to turn on my heel and stalk away from Husband. He is so taken in by the Obama/Joe-the-Plumber story. Husband is convinced Obama wants to GIVE away the wealth of this country to people who are lazy and don't want to work. (Husband is a very hard worker.......work is his life!) I retorted that John McCain is pussy-whipped by Sarah Palin, as are many men (perhaps). I have often observed the effect that attractive middle-aged women can have on men of any age! Its an instinctive reaction.......heart/gut trumps head. Boy-oh-boy, Husband didn't like to hear that, of course. (I happened to read Kathleen Parker's editorial in the newspaper yesterday, also.)
*
Anyhow........I ran in from the barn and Googled "pussy whip Palin"..........only TEN links showed up. One was a blog written by some observant Democrat felines,
*
Of course........maybe it would be good to have a female leader who holds the trump card of attractiveness. Male world leaders might tumble like dominoes......or, then again, maybe they wouldn't......I could easily be wrong about the whole deal. At any rate......watch yourselves, guys!!

I'm really surprised you got anything about cats when you googled "that which I won't even type". Hope you have your filter set high enough that your eyes aren't burning. :)

Hi, nancy!

Doesn't pussy-whipped mean that someone is obsessed with cats??

Seriously......ten links came up and none appeared to be pornographic. I wouldn't intentionally look at something like that anyway.

And, seriously.....I think this issue is a factor in this election.....and I don't mean it in a pornographic sense. I mean a male instinctively drawn to an attractive female. Its not pornographic......its human nature.

So you and your husband don't agree. That must be interesting. Betty and I are both confused and disappointed in both candidates.

Hi,Dr. John,

Yes....this definitely is one confusing presidential race! My husband and I disagree on lots of things.....yes, it does keep life interesting! We know what not to discuss, usually. But, we slipped this morning!

I don't understand what your response to your husband has to do with your husband's initial statement. Or are you leaving out a great deal of the conversation's detail? How did you two get from "point A" (his statement) to "point B (your statement). Apparently not in a straight line.

I am someone who finds the phrase you used crude and vulgar, and I'm surprised that you would use it. Please note, I am *not* saying in any way that *you* personally are crude and vulgar, only the words you chose to use in this instance. I don't understand the visceral hate that so many Democratic women seem to have toward Sarah Palin. Not agreeing with her views is one thing, but much of what I'm reading is way over the top. All is *not* fair in love, war, and politics.

By the way, I loved your autumn leaves pictures. But you must admit that a lot of bloggers are showing us the season of late!

rhymsie,

I just might be crude and vulgar.....you never know. I spend alot of time around manure.

I feel my husband is being too credulous, believing the Republican rhetoric which is filling our airwaves and newspapers in Iowa right now. I don't hate Sarah Palin or John McCain. I'm trying to figure out what makes them tick!! Its a lifelong habit, observing people to try and figure out what's going on in their heads. I also have a dreadful fear of getting "took". I believe politicians are in that business.....to "take" people by doing and saying whatever it takes to accomplish that.

I'm sorry to have offended you with the phrase. To me it simply describes what's going on. I mean it.....I've observed the change that comes over men when a very sharp, attractive woman comes on the scene. The male brain goes out the window. Why do you think women in some cultures are required to cover up completely.

I think trying to figure out what makes McCain/Palin tick is a lost cause.....I'm a republican and I can't figure those two out!!

I know what you are trying to say in your post and I do not find the term you used offensive. It is only offensive if the mind wishes it to be.

I look forward to reading more of the comments on this post.......

Love the fall photos. I enjoy seeing all of the different colors from around our country.....=) Nice job Jeanelle.

Well, I guess I've been told...not. The fact that deserthen and jeannelle don't find the phrase offensive doesn't make it any less offensive.

Would you use it in the choir loft at your Lutheran church? And, if not, why not? And don't just say it would be "inappropriate," tell me why it would be inappropriate.

Not trying to start a fight. Just curious about the ways of you "young folk."

rhymsie,

For your information, and this is the truth.....I've never used the phrase before today. I've heard it. Most likely, I would never use the phrase in church....but if someone there was seriously exhibiting such symptoms....and the situation called for it.....I just might. The phrase to me is an abstract.....not literal.....it doesn't mean I think McCain and Palin have something going on.....no.....but I think he's probably very enamored of her.

She would not be in the position she is right now if she were not such a knock-out eye-catcher. That I fully believe. Perhaps she would make the most wonderful vice-prez and president that's ever been. A woman can see through a woman much better than a man can, however. And....being a woman myself, actually, I can tell you that its easy to make the right moves.....often very subtle ones.....to catch and charm a male.

When I first met my future father-in-law years ago, I was taken aback by his blunt, sometimes crude observations about people and situations. The thing is, as years went by, I came to realize that he was being completely honest and giving a clear assessment of certain situations. He had no qualms about calling a spade a spade. I had to get used to it. I'm not saying I have McCain figured out correctly, but who can say for sure that the phrase doesn't fit him. Even my Methodist mother, who is a MUCH nicer person than me, just purses her lips and shakes her head at McCain and Palin.

And, I believe I first heard the phrase from "older" folks. It didn't originate with my generation. The idea expressed by the phrase has most likely been around forever.

Holy Humans. Sounds like certain people wanted an excuse to rake you over the coals? Hogwash I say! Nobody is ever going to figure out politicians!
Amazing how this campaign has really ruffled some feathers: on both sides!! For heaven sake: get a massage, have a facial, stuff your mouth with a bunch of grapes and chew!!! Better yet....eat some chocolate and take a nap!!
As for the term you used? That one gal needs to go stir her latte...country folks are plain and to the point! A very admirable trait if you ask me....no need to hem and haw...say it plain jane! You go Jeanelle...you're doing a great job. I'll be glad when this whole election is just plain OVER!!! Teresa

FYI, oregonian tribal person, I'm a different breed of cat (pun intended) -- and a male one to boot. "That one gal needs to go stir her latte!! I laughed out loud! Thanks, I needed that!

I'm 67 and I never heard the term in my life until about 15 years ago, at the office, in a conversation between a 30-something female discussing her soon-to-be-ex-husband with a 30-something male. And they didn't even say the phrase, they only used the initial letters. I was abke to figure it out from the context. The old folks I grew up with must have been a different breed of cat as well.

I think we (maybe I) have talked this subject to death.

Onward and upward with more travelogue posts!

able, not abke.

oregontribal,

You're absolutely correct there.....its impossible to figure out politicians! And, your eating chocolate idea sounds wonderful....as does the massage!

rhymsie,

You're right, too.....this subject does need to die.....right here, right now! Rest in Peace.

Jeannelle, so sorry that hubby thinks that Obama wants to take money from the middle class. That's exactly where he wants tax relief. McCain is just lying because he only wants to give tax relief to the rich, by making Bush's tax cuts to the wealthy permanent. He is still pushing that trickle down crap, that hasn't done a thing for the middle or working class yet, except push them deeper into debt. If you and hubby make less than 250,000 per year, Obama will give you much more relief than McCain and there are plenty of economists who say this, even McCain's own admit as much.

I think you used the phrase pussy whipped quite appropriately, given the discussion. I got to this post by seeing the on apples and apologies for offending anyone post. I do feel bad that you think that you need to apologize for anyone for your words or thoughts. You are more than entitled to say what you wish, think what you wish, and so forth. I guess those who disagree might post what they wish on their blogs rather than gripe at you for not talking as they would wish. Love ya girl!
