SkyWatch #42

This meadowlark welcomes you to our farm in northeast Iowa, USA!
The trees are becoming more green by the hour, it seems!

Blue, green, black, brown......the colors of spring on the farm:

We had several inches of rain on Sunday, causing the drainage ditch to run like a river!

You captured it while it's singing. Fantastic timing!

Love the fluffy clouds marching in the blue skies. Beautiful!

Your pictures are great as always. We haven't been able to load the software for the camera on this new computer for some reason. sigh..it's always something. My camera days seem over for now at least. We were thinking of buying a new camera anyway...craigslist usually has tons at cheap prices. I just love the meadowlark. I don't think I've ever seen one here unfortunately, but I used to see them in Michigan. One of the cats killed a bluebird of indigo bunting. It was under the table. I have to check the book, reddish breast and dark blue body, small bird, sharp beak. I get so mad when they kill my prettiest birds!

The meadowlark looks like he's bursting with joy as he sings at the top of its lungs.

Your gift of nature is matchless. I wish I can sing along with the lark. He's free and he's happy. Or she should be a she, isn't she?

Your lark is wonderful and the clouds look surreal! Hope these April showers are good for your crops.

Great shots of the farm coming to life with Spring.

I can almost hear the meadowlark. You caught him with his beak wide open, pouring out his wonderful melody.

Hail to thee, blithe spirit!
Bird thou never wert --

Oh, wait, that was a skylark (one of Percy Bysshe Shelley's friends, I believe).

afeatheradrift's bird sounds like a bluebird to me.

Hi, Oz Girl, Sara, Shey,

Thanks for stopping in and for your kind words! Catching meadowlark in mid-song was pure dumb luck!

Hi, Sherry,

Oh, I hate it, too, when our cats kill a nice songbird. A couple years ago I happened to see one of our cats devouring a reddish bird, probably cardinal....I was heartsick. :(

I hope you find a camera that works!

Hi, EG Tour Guide, Gramma Ann, Blue Ridge Gal, Bradley, Bonnie,

Thanks for your kind comments! I think this meadowlark is probably a male.
