Ernest's Photo - Cleaned Up

A very kind blog reader worked some magic on the photo of Husband's great-grandfather, Ernest---shown on the right with the cigar in his mouth (in Germany, at 12 years old):
Below is the original photo. A restoration feature in Photoshop CS3 was used. That's something I know nothing about......the improvement is amazing! Thank you, dear reader!

Hello! I found you through Gramma Ann. I'm so glad I did! You have a delightful, perceptive blog here and one I'm sure I will be visiting often. I will start following you today.
I've read your profile and it seems we do have some common threads in our tastes in books, films and music. I'm a Canadian (Gordon Lightfoot is a favourite) and I'm a poet. I'd be pleased if you'd check out my blog listed in my profile. My 1st blog is Invisible Keepsakes - the rest came later.

Have a lovely day (even if it is cold!)

That is wonderful! I am so in awe of folks who can use those photo editing/improvement programs. I have NO idea how one would go about doing that sort of thing. With the exception of an occasional tiny, tiny bit of tweakin through my Picasa program, my photos are just like they come from the camera except for necessary cropping.

I know you are happy to have a 'cleaned-up' version of this historic photo.

Goodness! Talk about a difference!

I have a picture of my grandfather when he was about 20 years old. What is really amazing is that my nephew who is now 21 looks just like him! Even the way he tilts his head!

I love that big table the men are sitting around. Looks like they are having a good time!

Take care and have a wonderful MLK day!! Between today and tomorrow's activities in Washington, D.C. it is a very special time...

Hi, Laura,

I don't know how to do it, either. I'm glad someone does.

Hi, Gramma Ann,

You're a speedy award poster....that's good.

Hi, Poetikat,

Thank you for venturing over here and for your kind words. Yes, I like Gordon Lightfoot's music very much, too. I will visit your blog soon!

Hi, Pat,

Yes, its impressive what can be done with old photos.....I didn't know about that before! I have forwarded the improved photo on to many family members.

Hi, Russell,

Its always interesting to see which distinctive traits are visible in subsequent generations of families.

I can't wait to watch the inaugural tomorrow!

Hi, Deb,

Yes, I was very impressed.....with HIS work. I won't identify him or he might be inundated with old photos. He can identify himself as the restorer if he ever wishes to.
